I believe it’s been 11 years since Aaliyah’s untimely death. Besides the stans that keep her music alive today, we continue to think back about her music and the impact she left on the industry. Fast forward to 2012, we have the idea to bring the songstress back, maybe not physically, but with song. And this bright idea has been brought to you by Mr. Ovo himself, Drake.

Upon my first listen I was not gonna be a fan of this song. One because I didn’t want this to turn into a whole Tupac situation. Meaning somehow coming out with 8 albums after his death, books, and lets not forget the latest, the hologram. I am a firm believer that you need to let memories be just that, memories. When your try to recreate the moment it usually doesn’t live up to the original. For example, have you ever just went to a club or a party and for some reason its poppin like no other. It was so good that you decide to do it all over again the next week and its horrible? Yea, its just like that.

After a couple listens I can’t front, I actually like the song. Brings me back to the better days when music didn’t have to be twerk worthy to be considered good. The beat Is sick and goes well with her voice. Its radio friendly and I could hear it being played in a club.

To bad Drake doesn’t have support of Aaliyah’s family. That probably would have made the song ten times better.
